Our assignment is to remix the content of the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision Open Images Database while using the Dropstuff LED screen as a channel to introduce the images to the public. We have to create an interactive product. This can be either interaction with content that has already been remixed by others, or the remixing will have to be done by the public through interaction. The interactivity will mostly be channeled through a mobile web application.
Omschrijving doelgroep
The primary focus group of this project is Dutch people living in the Netherlands and go to culture festivals. Mainly people that like culture and historical material and want to learn about audiovisual culture heritage of the Netherlands.
Doelstelling
Our main goal is to create a new and creative way to remix old material, showcase this on the big screen provided by Dropstuff on an event or festival, and add an interactive layer to it. The public should be able to interact with what they see. To make this happen the project requires communication between big LED screens and mobile devices/phones.
Concept
Interaction, remix and participation. Taking these 3 keywords as a starting point we soon figured that using gameplay elements would be the best way to develop a concept that would suit all. Within a game we would be able to remix images from the Open Images database, a webapp would be developed to create interaction and the use of competitive elements would stimulate people people to participate and keep playing. We chose to develop 2 games: 'Galgje' and 'Wat mist er?'
Resultaat
Led It Up developed an interactive installation to get the audience involved in online culture collections. By logging into the web application through your smart phone, with your Facebook or Twitter account, you can play the games on the LED-screen on the festival terrain. By playing the games people get to know more about the audiovisual culture of the Netherlands
